Our members understand that a diversified portfolio model is the best way to ensure that their contributions are being directed towards the most cutting edge and efficient methods of reducing greenhouse emissions. Though many Americans are only beginning to address climate change in an organized way, in fact there is already a highly developed marketplace for carbon offsets that’s subject to rigorous verification processes and standards. Every day millions of tons of carbon offsets are exchanged, and we’re constantly refining and re-examining our resources to make sure your contribution is having the maximum impact.
There are many differing opinions about the best way to offset carbon emissions, and dozens of verification organizations. From major players like the Kyoto protocol’s CDM framework, to independent and highly regarded third party verification groups, there are dozens of organizations dedicated to ensuring that the carbon offset process is real, quantifiable, and verifiable. Most of our portfolio consists of “blue chip” offsets with established certification standards, but we dedicate a minority portion of our portfolio to emerging technologies and markets that may have riskier or harder to quantify prospects, but a higher chance of yielding paradigm changing solutions.
It’s this diversification that we think makes all the difference. We don’t have a staff dedicated to taking photos of trees and posting them on our website, but we do have a team of experts with decades of experience in carbon trading markets -- ensuring that when our customers want to go carbon neutral, they’re doing it in the most efficient and effective way possible.
